The Canadian Art Preservation Foundation (CAPF) is a federally incorporated, registered charitable organization based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Our mission is to preserve works by lesser-known Canadian artists for future generations. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information in connection with our website (artpreservation.ca), donation activities, artist intake processes, and communications.

CAPF is committed to compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where applicable, the Personal Information Protection Act (British Columbia) (PIPA BC).

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.

  • To catalog, document, and preserve artworks in accordance with our collection management policies

CAPF does not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We may share information in limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: We work with third-party providers for payment processing (e.g., Stripe or equivalent), email communications, and website hosting. These providers access information only as necessary to perform services on our behalf and are contractually required to protect it.
  • Legal compliance: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of CAPF, its donors, artists, or the public.
  • CRA and government bodies: As a registered charity, we are required to maintain certain donor records and file annual returns with the Canada Revenue Agency.
  • Partner institutions: Where an artwork donation involves a designated cultural institution partner (e.g., for CCPERB certification purposes), relevant artwork and donor information may be shared with that institution with the donor’s knowledge and consent.

We do not share personal information with third parties for marketing or commercial purposes.

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to support basic functionality and site analytics. These may include:

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Request deletion of personal information, subject to our legal retention obligations
  • Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe your rights have been violated

CAPF takes reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. Our website is served over HTTPS. Payment processing is handled by PCI-compliant third-party processors; CAPF does not store payment card data.

No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but are committed to handling personal information responsibly.


10. Third-Party Links

Our website may contain links to third-party websites (auction houses, galleries, government resources, etc.). This Policy does not apply to those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any external sites you visit.
