Zen Garden VI
Original
1991
January 1, 1991
Sacred rocks stand in a combed sand pattern. In the background, a grid pattern resembles a Japanese temple screen. This artist places objects and colour patches in the same meditative fashion as the Zen gardeners of sand and rocks do.
When looking at this collage, note how your eye goes from the red in the bottom left to the red and blue in the upper right, inviting you to pay attention to the whole surface of the image.
The collage is mounted on card, likely mat board, 6 x 5.5 inches. It is then glued onto another mat board 9.5 inches x 7.25. It came to CAPF with an acid containing mat which was 11x14, which Granirer had chosen as its eventual framed dimensions. CAPF has removed the mat.
