Trial Light
16/75
1995
On Trial Island there is a lighthouse and a few outbuildings perched on a rocky, treeless outcrop by the shore, helping sailors to navigate dangerous waters. The Trial Island Lighthouse is an historic and active light station established in 1906. Morning light defines the buildings. A 3-masted sailing ship recalls earlier times. The background shows the rising land mass of Vancouver Island near Oak Bay. This and it's companion print: Estivan Light, are printed on acid free, natural color paper (Kizuki Hosho, pure Japanese grown Kozo) made from a type of mulberry tree. This is what gives the distinctive texture to this print.
Although entitled TRIAL LIGHT on the print itself, the accompanying Certificate of Authenticity calls this work Trial Island. The edition number 16/75 confirms we are referring to the same print. The Certificate also notes there are 7 Artist Proofs and 7 Publisher Proofs in this edition.
The Certificate also notes the paper is '8 monme (heavy weight)'.
The artwork was received with double acid free matting and is framed. At time of the initial recording the artwork was not disassembled from it's framing, so there is no information about the reverse side of the print or of it's outer dimensions.
